Société Générale’s contemporary art collection has a direct link with a place: the Société Générale Tower, completed in 1996.

Started between 1995 and 1996, during the relocation from the Group’s former headquarter to the Société Générale Tower at La Défense, the collection now comprises over 170 works of art and offers a wide scope of plastic art from the 1970’s until today.  Every year, this commitment is extended by new acquisition (works by contemporary artists such as Bertrand Lavier, Laurent Pariente, Philippe Ramette, Pascal Pinaud…).

At first, this collection's purpose was to enliven the halls, corridors and meeting rooms of the tower. With the growing taste for contemporary art of an ever broader audience, the Group decided in 2003 to lend a number of its acquisitions to certain museums in France and in other countries.
