Continuing its growth and globalisation strategy, the Société Générale group gathers nearly 151,000 employees, working in 82 countries. In an ever-more diversified environment, and a broadened spectrum of activities, business lines, cultures and profiles, Human Resource management supports the Group’s policy lines:

  • Accompany its development and the diversification of its business-lines,
  • Reinforce the Group's appeal, in order to attract new talents and retain current employees,
  • Assess and valorise the diversity and dynamism of employees,
  • Promote responsibility and performance,
  • Continue to put the stress on personnel management and development, by favouring accompaniment actions and integrating the international aspect,
  • Favour cohesion via the sharing of common values.

The Group keeps a close eye on the quality of the social framework, carrying out substantial social dialogue and paying particular attention to employee protection.

Social dialogue and employee satisfaction
259 agreements were signed throughout the Group in 2007, including 83 agreements and amendments in France. These agreements essentially concerned training, pay, profit sharing and shareholding, professional equality, the status of handicapped employees, the length of the working week, social advantages (including health cover and pension schemes) and personnel representative structures. The Group’s various entities ensure that they regularly inform their employees about the Group’s general evolution and about HR matters that concern them directly. Internal publications and specific intranet sites are made available to them.

Ensuring employee protection
Société Générale pays very close attention to the social protection of its personnel, both in France and abroad, and has a proactive policy in terms of prevention and social welfare.
Employees benefit from suitably adapted protection in terms of health and invalidity, and the coverage adopted in many countries in this respect often exceeds minimum legal requirements or local practices.
Société Générale is actively involved in preventative actions, notably in high-risk countries (Aids in sub-Saharan Africa, for instance).

Favourable work conditions
The Group does its utmost to ensure that its employees have, in accordance with local employment conditions, a working environment conducive to their professional and personal development.
