Societe Generale is convinced that it has a major role to play in society, and that the nature of its business puts it firmly at the heart of economic and social progress. As a result, the Group is permanently involved in socially-inclusive initiatives.

The citizenship policy and solidarity initiatives of Societe Generale group are developed through the Societe Generale Corporate Foundation for Solidarity which works to improve and encourage professional integration for people at risk of exclusion of the job market and particularly by:

• helping the professional integration of young people,
• fighting against illiteracy.

At an international level, Societe Generale entities develop their citizen commitment by setting up solidarity programmes and actions and/or by supporting local charities and their projects in coordination with the Societe Generale Corporate Foundation. Some entities have also created their local Foundation (e.g. the Institute for Societal Responsibility in Brazil, the Jistota Foundation in Czech Republic, the Foundation SG UK Group Charitable Trust in the United Kingdom).

In this context and with the aim to give its employees the opportunity to participate in solidarity initiatives, Societe Generale puts in place several actions and events. The most relevant are:

• The Citizen Commitment Week: organised every year in June and duplicated by Societe Generale subsidiaries around the world. During this week, some dedicated events are organised involving our partner charities with the aim to encourage employees to commit to citizenship actions.
• The Citizen Commitment website (www.citizen-commitment.com). This website presents the Societe Generale Corporate Foundation, but also the solidarity activities and projects of our partner charities and of Societe Generale’s entities all over the world. Through the website the employees can discover the partner charities and get involved in their actions as volunteers.
