How do you start a blog? It’s not easy when you’ve never kept one before… Well I suppose I should start by introducing myself.

Violeta Molina-Chang

My name is Violeta Molina Chang and I’m from Guatemala, although I’m also part Chinese as my grandfather is from Canton. It’s a rather original mix. I like to compare it to fusion cooking (I love cooking!)
I’ve been living in France for the last three and a half years, and have been with Société Générale for the last two years or so. For the first eight months, I interned to see how things went. For the last year and a half, I’ve been an HR project manager at BHFM, the International Retail Banking division. I’m responsible for the linguistics training of our staff.

You have to be particularly versatile for this kind of job. And like languages too, of course: I speak Spanish, some Chinese, English and French, and I want to learn German! You also have to like human contact and listening to people, and know how to manage the logistics side of things. Here’s an example – a slightly unusual one, but still – that reflects all this: at the start of the year, I helped an Egyptian intern find… a wedding dress! She was passing through Paris for a training course, and wanted to make the most of her stay to buy the dress. She needed advice, and as I had no idea where to buy wedding dresses in Paris, I did some research to help her find what she wanted over the weekend. The following week, she turned up with a big smile on her face – she’d found her dream wedding dress!
A month later, she sent me an email from Egypt. The dress still hadn’t arrived and she needed help. I made sure everything was alright with the store and with DHL, and a few days later she received the dress. I would have loved to have seen how she looked in that wedding dress, and received an invitation to the wedding in Cairo!

See you soon for more about me!
