What is Citizen Act?

Citizen Act is a training game for students around the world, from undergrads to graduate students, in universities, business schools and engineering schools. It gives them the opportunity to develop and deepen their corporate social responsibility (CSR) knowledge as it applies to banking. Launched in 2006, this game challenges teams of students to resolve a concrete case involving one of Societe Generale's CSR issues, with the supervision of experienced tutors.

Why should students take part?

When the first edition launched in 2006, only 19 teams in four countries signed up. Last year it was nearly 250 teams in 37 countries, which shows the growing interest in this game, whose international dimension is expanding. More than a traditional business game, Citizen Act is a true training approach to CSR topics, approved by the EFMD.*

Students have the opportunity to train using the content they are provided, the advice of coaches, and close discussions with our CSR and banking experts. This year, workshops will be led by Societe Generale employees and by an acknowledged external reference, UNEP-FI**, to demonstrate to students how the intrinsic responsibility of a financial institution like Societe Generale across all its activities.

How does this game tie in with the Group's Strategy?

CSR is one of the priority strategies of Ambition SG 2015, and Citizen Act sends the message, or reminder, that the Group is a Responsible Employer, giving students the chance to work with us on CSR issues that are integral to our business as bankers.

What is new in this sixth edition?

For this season, the emphasis will be on team spirit and interaction. So, to be chosen, teams must create a team page, using social networks like Facebook to generate support for their team, and prove they are cohesive and complementary.
Because training is the very core of this game, learning content (case studies, videos and e-learning modules) will be built on at every phase of the game. Finally, this year, the winners will receive a gift of €3,000 to €7,000 and the opportunity of an internship at Societe Generale that will increase their employability..
