>> Results for the third quarter of 2010: Soundness of Societe Generale’s business model confirmed

With Group net income of EUR 3.0 billion in the first 9 months of the year, Societe Generale has provided further evidence of the soundness of its universal banking model.

In an uncertain economic environment and in a regulatory climate which is undergoing significant change, Societe Generale launched an ambitious transformation programme in the beginning of 2010 to adapt to this new context. To support this extensive transformation and associate all of its employees with the success of the project, Societe Generale is for the first time making an exceptional grant of 40 performance shares per employee, whatever their business line, position or the location of their activity.

>> Frédéric Oudéa appointed Chairman of the IIF Steering Committee on Regulatory Capital

The appointment of Frédéric Oudéa as Chairman of the Steering Committee on Regulatory Capital (SCRC) comes soon after the Basel Committee's announcement in September of the new capital regulations for banks, known as Basel II and which will come into effect as of 2013. The Institute of International Finance (IIF), which is based in Washington, is the world's only global association of financial institutions and has over 420 members. The SCRC is the IIF's primary leadership group concerned with regulatory policy issues related to bank capital and liquidity requirements.

For the seventeenth year, Global Finance Magazine has named the Best banks throughout the world. In the Best Emerging Markets Banks in Central and Eeastern Europe, BRD, the Romanian subsidiary of Société Générale, has been named Best Bank in Romania.

Jean-Louis Mattei, Head of International Retail Banking, stated, "we want to be the leading privately-owned bank in Africa by 2015." To show the importance of North Africa, and the African continent in general, in our strategy and ambitions, Bernardo Sanchez Incera, the Group's Deputy CEO, and Jean-Louis Mattei, Head of International Retail Banking, were in Casablanca for a press meeting on November 11.

"When a women dares, she succeeds" was the theme of the first Women's Awards organised by La Tribune, one of France's main economic and financial daily newspapers.  The event was launched to highlight the change in mentality towards women in the workplace and Société Générale was one of its partners.
