>> New organisation of the General Management

To spearhead the transformation of our Group, Frédéric Oudéa, the Chairman and Chief executive officer, is aided by three Deputy CEOs since 1 January 2010: Séverin Cabannes, supervising  the Corporate and Investment Banking businesses, Jean-François Sammarcelli, in charge of the French retail banking activities, et Bernardo Sanchez-Incera, in charge of International Retail Banking and Specialized Financial Services.

>> Estimated results for the fourth quarter of 2009

The Group has published its estimated financial results for the fourth quarter of 2009, with a slightly profitable Net income.

  • Solid activity levels in the Group’s businesses with slower business in Corporate and Investment Banking;
  • An estimated slight profit for the quarter that integrates negative impacts of EUR -1.4 billion for assets at risk;
  • A favourable position to look ahead to 2010 with confidence.

>> Societe Generale and the year of France in Russia and Russia in France 2010
In 2007, Nicolas Sarkozy and Dimitri Medvdev decided on a year of France in Russia and Russia in France that would take place simultaneously in both countries.
Given its strong ties with Russia, the Group wanted to play a visible role in the year of France in Russia and Russia in France 2010 through different events, such as Picasso retrospective at the Pushkin museum (Moscow) and the Hermitage (Saint Petersburg) from February to September 2010.

Société Générale Group has signed a patronage agreement with the CIGREF foundation, created by an association of IS clubs of large French companies. The purpose: to follow the development of the research programme carried out by the CIGREF foundation.

Societe Generale, as par of its environmental policy, has joined the Manifesto for Energy Efficiency in Buildings launched by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.

>> Earthquake in Haiti: Société Générale donates one million euros
In order to support relief efforts following the earthquake that devastated Haiti, the Group decided to donate one million euros to humanitarian organisations present in Haiti to help bring urgent relief to its people. This approach is supported by Talents & Partage, the charity association run by current and former Group staff, and by CARE, a partner-NGO of SG CIB.
